Research

Since 2019, Stop the Coward Punch Campaign has partnered with the Monash University / Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine on groundbreaking research that was undertaken to explore the multifaceted issue of coward punch violence in Australia, marking a significant step towards understanding this critical social problem.

VIFM Research Program

These world first series of studies have investigated the profiles of fatal victims and perpetrators, alongside the experiences of survivors who have been directly impacted by these violent incidents. Our most recent study analysed the health outcomes for survivors, the research highlighting the extensive physical and psychological repercussions that follow these cowardly assaults. Moreover, the financial burden imposed on individuals and healthcare systems due to coward punch violence is meticulously examined, revealing the broader societal costs associated with this tragic phenomenon.

Our valued partnership with VIFM and the ongoing research on coward punch violence aims to inform policy and preventive measures, contributing to a safer community and a deeper understanding of the human cost of coward punch violence in Australia.
